Coming Home

Paul developed altitude sickness when we were in the Sacred Valley. Because of this Paul needed to get to a lower altitude. Therefore, we will be arriving home tomorrow afternoon.

We have had an amazing two days packed full of great adventures! We have seen several Inca ruins, gone river rafting, been to a pottery studio, heard how corn beer is made (with tasting), helped some local people in the Andes highlands celebrate Carnival, and seen how the ancient people live as there are some people who still live in a 14th century Inca house. Tomorrow we go to Cusco, the ancient capitol of the Inca empire. There are 14 others in our group. We have great tour guides.

Lima, Peru

Greetings from Lima! We finally arrived at our hotel here at 7:00 pm today after leaving our house yesterday at 10:00 am. Our flight to Dallas was cancelled because of snow. They rerouted us through Las Vegas thinking we had plenty of time to get to Miami for our midnight flight to Lima. The flight from there was delayed causing us to miss our flight in Miami by 1/2 hour. After being in the airport standing in line and talking to our insurance company on the phone until after 2:00 am, an American Airlines rep took pity on us and gave us a room at a nearby hotel where we arrived at 3:00. We were back at the airport at 9:00 to check in for our afternoon flight to Lima. We were met by a representative from Vantage Travel who checked us into a hotel directly across the street from the airport. We will be back at the airport tomorrow morning at 4:00 to fly to Cusco where we will be met and taken to join our tour group in Urubamba. We won't miss much of the tour tomorrow. We should have some pictures to post soon.
